15 ladies from 8 different clubs played in at least 3 seasons at Overstone Park. 2 of our number were new to Vets’ matches, the rest of us more seasoned.  Some big guns were missing as the date clashed with county scratch matches and indeed, I had to hand over to Jacqui for the speeches to head home to play in ours.  We were short a player, who had shingles on the day, so I played my match on my own and let myself down with a half after being 3 up after 15.  Only myself to blame. Enough about me - Jacqui took over the reins, made the speeches and announced the results.  She reported that all of the matches were friendly and most were close, but sadly the final outcome was a loss of 5 / 3.  The bonus was hearing and seeing muntjacs on the course (but we would have still preferred to win).
