STAFFORDSHIRE V LEICESTERSHIRE 2ND TEAMS AT LEEK GC ON 15 th JUNE 2026                                                                                           
16 ladies travelled to Leek golf club for this fixture, and a massive thank you to all the team. We were again blessed with fine golfing weather, the rain came briefly but cleared away within minutes, and we finished our matches in the sunshine.                                                                                     
The long journey, just under 1.3/4hrs was truly worth the travelling, I just can’t say enough about the golf course which was immaculate in every way, if a little shall we say challenging in parts, (it has a very hilly area), but to compensate some of the views were truly stunning We all received an extremely warm welcome from the Staffordshire representatives, they’d done everything they could to make our visit so enjoyable, including having all the cards prepared with shot allowances worked out.

This theme continued with the catering staff, who quickly set to preparing bacon cobs (which were delicious) for all us hungry mortals. As ever the matches were played in a particularly friendly manner and all our ladies did their very best, but unfortunately the overall result was 6-2 to
Staffordshire, but a big shout out to Kathryn and Annette Penny and Dawn who kept the Leicestershire flag flying by winning their respective matches, well done ladies.                                                                                                                                                                                                  
The day was finished off with a lovely meal, with most of us being introduced to “Buxton Pudding” (delicious) then after the various thank u’s by the
Captains and their president, we all headed home.
