On Monday 23rd June we played our home match against Northamptonshire ladies at Market Harborough Golf Club.

The weather was very kind to us with lots of sun and no rain, which is always a bonus.

We fielded a great team of ladies from eight clubs around the county including Charnwood Forest, Cosby, Kibworth, Lingdale, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Rothley and Ullesthorpe.

We had a very warm welcome from the club who were very helpful in sorting out buggies etc. They also provided us with an excellent post-match meal consisting of a rolling buffet, where we could eat as we came in. The food was excellent, with a great variety of dishes to suit every lady and dietary requirement. I would like to extend my thanks to all the ladies who played in the match and also to the golf club for their help in making it a great day. Unfortunately though it wasn’t quite perfect, as after some very close matches, we lost out to the Northamptonshire ladies.

Our next match will be on Thursday 26th June, away to Warwickshire at Nuneaton Golf Club. This is a combined match with the 2nd team. The 1st team has four matches played off scratch followed by the 2nd team playing their four matches off handicap.

It makes for an interesting format which I’m sure the ladies will all enjoy. Good luck and my thanks to everyone taking part.
