On Monday 7th July we had our annual match playing with the lovely Gentlemen of Rothley Park Golf Club. This is a fun day of golf where we join forces with the men to field mixed teams, playing an AMAM format, with best lady and best man scores to count.

For a variety of reasons this year the field was for six teams so only 12 ladies took part but hopefully it will be back up to a field of 16 ladies next year as it is a day greatly enjoyed by all.

The ladies came from nine different clubs in the County namely Birstall, Charnwood Forest, Hinckley, Kilworth Springs, Longcliffe, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Rothley and Rutland Water. It is always lovely to meet and play with ladies from different clubs to my own. I would like to thank every lady, and gentlemen, who played in the match which fortunately was held on a dry, warm day. 

My congratulations to the winners Trina Tidmas (Kilworth Springs) Gillian Clear (Rothley) and their partners, Martin Williams and Geoff Warren, who each won a bottle of wine. Well played all.

Our next match will be at Lingdale on Monday 18th August. This is a home match to Derbyshire, where we play for a wooden spoon. Unfortunately, we are the current holders of the spoon so I look forward, very much, to handing it back to them this year.

We have a great team and I’m sure a good match will be had by all.
