L&R Veteran Ladies Golf Association and L&R Lady Captains’ Golf Association 3rd Team Am-am
In 2016 our Association included a new annual event to be played by ladies with 29 – 36 handicap, and organised alternately by Lady Vets and Lady Captains.
This year the event was organised by Jan Johnson President of the Leicestershire and Rutland Lady Captains’ Association and was held at Scraptoft Golf Club. The team number was raised from the initial 8 players per team to 12 per team with the hope that this will be 16 in the future. Two ladies from each association played in a four-ball am-am stableford with one lady from each team to score on each hole.
The day started off with a really chilly wind with Sue Bromwich(President), Jenny Martin (Past President Captains Association), Glenda Yeldham(Vice President Captains Association)and ‘Drina Terzza(2nd Team Captain) on the first tee to see all the ladies on their way. The cold wind and short shower didn’t hamper the enthusiasm and excellent scores were returned. The course was in superb condition and the relaxed format allowed the ladies to enjoy their golf and have a lot of fun.
Our day came to a close with a superb meal and prizes presented by Jenny Martin. The winning fourball with a score of 84 points were Penny Coventry with Janet Bentley (Vets) and Lynda Dunne with Kay Brutnall(Lady Captains). Runners-up with 77 points were Linda Sim with Elaine Wesley (Vets) and Gill Lyth with Jane Linsley(Lady Captains). Diane Pearson playing in her first Vets fixture had a birdie on the 11th hole scoring 5 points. A great achievement, congratulations and well done Diane.
Thank you to all ladies who played and how lovely it was to see ladies exchanging contact details before leaving so they may get together again in the future.
