Leicestershire & Rutland versus Lincolnshire 2^nd Team Match

What a glorious day we had at Melton Mowbray Golf Club for our match versus Lincolnshire on Thursday 6th July. The weather forecast at the beginning of the week was for very heavy downpours and threatened to be a repeat of last year’s fixture v Lincolnshire. We’d travelled to Elsham in the north of Lincolnshire in 2016 on a very wet day and although we all ventured out the course was soon closed and we returned to the clubhouse abandoning the match.

However the weather angels were good to us and the sun shone for the whole day. Temperatures were very high, the ball was running well and everyone enjoyed good golf. The lush, thick rough and tricky greens didn’t deter our ladies who returned a superb win of 5 ½ to 2 ½ .

The chicken salad meal with strawberries and cream was well received and a lovely end to the day.

Thank you to all the ladies who played and brought us our first win of the season.
