2nd Team vs Warwickshire at Kenilworth

What a Beautiful Day…..song by Michael Bublé

and what a beautiful day we had at Kenilworth Golf Course. The moment I arrived was just sure bliss…the weather was excellent, the course looked so well manicured and the food was to die for….well maybe not to die!  Our main meal was Beef Bourguignon, which was simply delicious followed by a Brûlée tart with summer fruits.

Well, we were there for the golf and it was my final match of the year as Captain of the 2nd/3rd team Vets and likewise for the Warwickshire Captain Sue Butler.  We and our partners Jane Bews, my partner (who played a lovely game) and Sue’s partner Lynn Seward had such a nip and tuck game but we were unable to get the win on the last hole, so for us it was a win to Sue & Lynn…probably deserved as my golf was somewhat to be desired.

Like many of our matches they were won and unfortunately for the Leicestershire & Rutland ladies were lost on the last hole.  The result being 3 and 5 to Warwickshire.

I would like to say thank you to the many ladies who have played in matches this year and although I may not remember all of your names, I will certainly remember your faces.

I can remember someone saying to me, if you can help anyone, do so and if you haven’t tried something and given the opportunity to do so…then do it.  I sincerely thank Annette O’Meara for asking me to be her Vice Captain.  Going forwards I have been so well supported by my Vice Captain Sandra, she’s a dab hand at handling the cash now….

I have had a beautiful year and not just a beautiful day.
