2ndTeam Match v Lincolnshire at Longcliffe Golf Club
After all the heavy rain of the previous week, the teams were delighted to play this match on a warm, sunny and dry day. The ground staff had obviously worked hard to ensure that the course was in very good condition despite the recent bad weather.
Three of the Lincolnshire ladies, including the Captain Margaret, were held up by an accident on the M1 but thankfully everyone arrived in time to tee off as planned. Margaret and I decided to play in the same 4ball and had a very enjoyable game with our partners Sue and Lin, finishing the match all square. Many of the handicaps were very similar and the first 4 games finished all square. Fortunately, we managed to win 3 of the remaining 4 games so the match result was a 5-3 win for L&RVLGA. The Lincolnshire ladies were very good company and everyone obviously enjoyed playing the course.
The staff at Longcliffe GC made us feel very welcome and we were well looked after throughout the day. We had a delicious Summer Buffet meal followed by a choice of desert to round off an excellent day.
