Leicestershire & Rutland Veteran Ladies Golf Association

2nd team's long journey rewarded by games on a challenging golf course

None of us knew what to expect when we were invited to play Ashby Decoy Golf Course, in the very north of Lincolnshire, near Scunthorpe. But the Lincs ladies welcomed us warmly and then put up a very hard fight out on the course. We had sunshine, wind and showers - some very heavy-  and the unusual layout of six par fives and five par threes kept us on our toes. Not one of the par threes was a straightforward shot onto the green - in fact one was barely visible over the mound of gorse, heather and long grasses that separated it from the tee! Lincolnshire came out 5-2 winners, but many of the games were closely contested, and I would really like to thank my team for making the long journey "up north" to play for the team. It is so lovely to see new and familiar faces and to hear the sound of laughter as you all bond with your playing partners.
