2nd team v Northamptonshire Print Monday 20th June 2022 The day started well with a Committee Meeting at Rothley Park prior to President Sue, Secretary Avis, Vice Captain Jan and myself meeting up with the rest of the team at Charnwood GC. The intention was that President Sue and myself along with the President and Captain of Northamptonshire would play a friendly 9 holes whilst the 3rd team were out in force chasing another win. The sun was shining, the flag was flying, the atmosphere in the Clubhouse was great and the players arrived in plenty of time for our 12 noon tee off. Unfortunately due to illness the Northamptonshire President and Captain found themselves playing and at the very last minute so did super-sub Sue! I was left on the bench enjoying the sunshine on the new terrace and it was great to see the teams passing by as they embarked on the second half of the course. It was also an added bonus and a real surprise and pleasure to see the Charnwood ladies who are members of the L&RVLGA 1st and 2nd teams change into their pale blue shirts in support of our ladies after their own knock-out matches had finished. Thank you one and all! As the first few in enjoyed a superb meal of Salmon and Salad followed by Strawberry Eton Mess, Captain Lizzie and I waited patiently for the result of the last match! A cheer from us all as we halved the match, a good result for such a friendly bunch from Northamptonshire and I am certainly looking forward to our 2nd Team Match which will be played at Brampton Heath on 25th July.
