Leicestershire & Rutland versus Staffordshire at Trentham Park Golf Club
The first Inter-County Match was played at Trentham Park Golf Club against Staffordshire on Friday 12th May. It was an early start for most and a fairly long journey. The weather forecast wasn’t good and I’m sure all the team expected to get very wet. However weather reports are not always accurate and although we all started off in the rain, it was much less than we expected and the sun came out before we finished. Trentham Park is a beautiful course and was well presented for our match. We were very well looked after by the Staffordshire ladies and enjoyed a lovely meal after the match.
Staffordshire fielded a very strong team and although we lost 6 and halved 2 several of the lost matches were very close indeed. The end result was a 7 and 1 win to Staffordshire.
