Captain versus Vice Captain Match at Melton Mowbray Golf Club
The date for the annual Captain versus Vice-Captain Match was Thursday 13th April, and although at times it seemed as though the day would never arrive, here we were on Maundy Thursday of Easter Week about to play our first match of the season. The previous weekend and also last year’s match were lovely warm sunny days. Not however for us in our winter layers as the temperature was indeed very chilly. Ladies from 16 clubs across the county formed the two teams and after meeting friends old and new, spirits were lifted and the cold weather no longer an issue. The match soon got under way, with the Captain’s team bringing in the first win of the season. The Captain’s team concluded the match with another win. The Vice- Captain’s team took the honours in all but one of the other matches, leaving the end result as a 5 and 3 win to the Vice Captain’s Team. Congratulations to Avis and her team.
The laughter and chatter within the clubhouse after the match was truly wonderful, and will hopefully be the ‘norm’ at each and every match.
A huge thank you to all the ladies who played, with special thanks to President Sue Bromwich who played for the Captain’s Team.
