Leicestershire & Rutland Veteran Ladies Golf Association

L&RVLGA 2nd Team with Whetstone Gentlemen

Thursday 11th August 2016 arrived and so did the rain, but everyone was in good spirit and togged up in their waterproofs to compete in the annual event for the Adonis Trophy. By the time the last group stood on the first tee the rain had stopped and the sun came out for the rest of the day. This year, by popular request, the event was a played as an AmAm (one man & one lady to score) and the results returned were outstanding. The course was in an excellent condition and the greens were well watered. The meal which was enjoyed by all was a ham salad with new potatoes followed by blackcurrant meringue pie and coffee and the gentlemen of Whetstone Golf Club entertained the L&RVLGA ladies wonderfully. A special thank you goes to Val Gower, a member of Whetstone GC and L&RVLGA, who stood in for the gentlemen of Whetstone at the very last minute (she got the call 5 minutes before the 1st tee time!). The winners of the nearest the pins on the 17th were Bernie Eversfield and myself.
The winners of the Adonis Trophy 2016 were Bill Bowley and Dave Berridge of Whetstone with Alice Seabrook of Cosby and Pauline Dye of Ullesthorpe, who scored 88 points. They were presented with the trophy by Chris Smith, the Senior Captain of Whetstone.
