It was an earlier start than usual but everyone arrived in good time. The weather was bright but with a cool wind, especially on the higher exposed holes.
The course was in a lovely condition, the balls were running well on the fairways but the “not flat” greens were a little slow at the start. However, the wind soon dried the overnight moisture from the greens and before the end of the round they could be described as fast.
Staffordshire, once again fielded a strong team, with every Leicestershire pairing receiving shots. The games were all extremely close with quite a few going to the 18th and the visiting team’s President Brenda congratulated all of the ladies on this being one of the friendliest of all matches.
The dinner was attended by three presidents, Janet of Leicestershire, Brenda of Staffordshire and Lily, Past President of Staffordshire, who we were told, loves a good day out. A big thank you goes to all of the ladies who played for a thoroughly enjoyable day.
The Match ended in a win for Staffordshire 5-3.
