The First Team began the new season with a match against Warwickshire, at Ullesthorpe Golf Club. The weather forecast  of heavy rain in the morning proved to be quite correct, fortunately the heavy showers passed and these were followed by periods of warm sunshine. Both Leicestershire and Warwickshire Presidents came along to support their respective teams and were given a tour of the course by Ullesthorpe's  Lady Captain. Leicestershire won the first two games quite convincingly; the following matches were  more evenly matched and unfortunately the Warwickshire pairings proved to be slightly stronger over the closing holes, winning the match 5 - 3

There were many favourable comments about the course at Ullesthorpe being in very good condition and several ladies wish to return to play the newly constructed, challenging 15th hole next year.

The match was followed by a superb carvery in the hotel dinning room, with excellent service provided by all the Ullesthorpe staff.
