Leicestershire & Rutland Veteran Ladies Golf Association

2nd Team vs Northamptonshire

Our last inter county match was played against Northamptonshire 2nd team at Harlestone Golf club on the 10th August 2015.

Another long journey for some, but all the Leicestershire ladies arrived in good time. A couple of the Northamptonshire ladies got lost, so the playing order was re-jigged.

Our President, Janet came to watch the ladies tee off and joined us for the meal afterwards.

There were a couple of short showers during the match, but it actually remained a nice temperature, with the sun eventually coming through.

The course was on the whole in good condition, although there were bare lies on the fairways and tee boxes. These did not appear to affect the games, which once again were played in good spirits. Some challenging holes and the setting for the golf club was delightful, being part of the Althorpe Estate. To get to the ladies 18th tee, you had to walk over the bridge, which was once used by horses and carriages.

I would recommend playing this course, if you get the chance. Why would I say that………………………….we had a good win of 5 ½ to 2 ½.
