Leicestershire & Rutland Veteran Ladies Golf Association

2nd Team win against Derbyshire at Matlock

Another long journey to Matlock for the team. All the ladies arrived in good time. We watched the weather change from sunny and dry to showery ,then back to sunny. The first tee off was 11.30 and by this time the weather seemed as though it would stay dry. It was decided that unless we got very wet, there would be no need to change for the meal. There were some showers, and no one got that wet.

The course was in great condition and many ladies hadn’t played Matlock before. It was quite hilly, with some long carries over several “ravines”. The views from the course over the surrounding countryside, were truly breathtaking. All that said, good golf was played by both teams and the overall result was a win to Leicestershire 4 ½ - 3 ½.

We had a good meal of either Baked salmon or chicken in parma ham, new potatoes and salad, followed by chocolate tart and cream.
