2nd/3rd team match against Derbyshire Thursday 29th May 2025

Yet again the golf Gods blessed us with dry, often sunny weather. Unfortunately, on this occasion, it was accompanied by high winds, which made Longcliffe, a challenging course in any conditions, even more challenging!

The 16 ladies who took part came from 8 clubs over the counties.

It was another tough day; Derbyshire has only one squad and so several of our ladies were playing against those who would qualify for our 1st team, one in single figures.

The result of a win to Derbyshire 7.1⁄2 to 1⁄2 was very harsh as some of the games were very close. Nevertheless, both sides reported they had enjoyed playing, and that the games were played in the true spirit of golf.

As an added bonus, one lady met up with an old school friend and two others discovered they were related; it led to interesting conversation at the after-match meal.
