3rd Team v Past Captains
PAST CAPTAINS AM/AM Friday 15th July 2022 What a difference a day makes!
The one and only time I have visited Hinckley Golf Club was to play in the 2021 County Shield in torrential rain when the course was flooded. It didn’t really matter that Friday 15th was glorious sunshine and very warm as I wasn’t playing in the 3rd Team Match nor required for the Past Captains squad.
All was going swimmingly, everyone registered early and President Sue and I had just arranged to play a few holes after the match had commenced when. yes wait for it! Past Captains President Helen announced that one of the players had signed up for both teams!! Horror, great I was going to get to play, but then, a no-show for the Past Captains side so Sue was back in the frame playing for the Past Captains so we were both delighted.
I had probably the happiest of games, our team, Di DeMiddelear, Joyce Calow and Denise Mather didn’t stop laughing the whole match with “bravo” and “issimo” everywhere! The winning team was: Ann Bancroft, Rose Fowler, Bubbles Emmett and Jo Pepper, well played, hope you enjoyed the Pimm’s! Thanks to all the ladies who played and supported us in this match and a special thank you to Helen Buckingham for organising the day, and the fabulous weather!
