2nd Team v Derbyshire Print 2nd Team v Derbyshire Thursday 9th June 2022 The first challenge of the day was finding Stanedge Golf Club, Chesterfield. Having encountered the road chaos in Chesterfield and the country lanes, all of our ladies arrived safe and sound. The next challenge was keeping our team safe and sound. After the first par 3 we crossed the course to a par 4 and were confronted with players coming towards us, then on our second shot we had players to the right of us, along with the four players immediately in front of us! Golf not to be repeated said my team mate Lyn. The course was described by one of our ladies as “bijoux”. It is a 10 hole course and is privately owned by lady professional, Fame Tate. The course was neat in every respect, lovely tee boxes and fluffy fairways and everyone had a pre-ordered choice from five main courses and three sides. The Derbyshire ladies were very welcoming which was quite a relief after the problems Carol Hinks experienced last year when Derbyshire cancelled the match at 6.30 the evening prior to the match scheduled at Birstall Golf Club. Thank you ladies for travelling to the wilds of Derbyshire and the Peak District and the tranquillity of the countryside on a very cold, all weather, June day – happy memories.
