This is the third year this match has taken place as a four-ball AmAm with one vet
and one lady captain to count on each hole. It started with just 4 teams, the second
year increased to 6 teams and this year we had 8 teams playing.
Sue Bromwich (President), Jan Johnson (Captains Association President) and Avis
Webb (2nd team Captain) started the ladies off on the first tee. Some of the ladies
were playing their very first match and were very nervous. Their first tee shots were
great and their partners were very encouraging and by the time they were eating,
they were all getting along splendidly, all trace of nerves gone. It was great to see
these new ladies out on the course with us and long may it continue.
The day started quite cool but the sun soon showed it lovely face and became very
warm by the time the teams were in.
The winners this year with a great 86 points were Linda Sim and Penny Grimwood
for the Vets and Linda Orton and Jill Preston for the Lady Captains. Runners-up with
84 points were Patricia Jackson and Carol Sign (Vets) and Gill Lund and Chris
Cooper (Lady Captains).
