THE CONSTITUTION OF
THE LEICESTERSHIRE AND RUTLAND VETERAN LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION
1.1. The name of the Association shall be THE LEICESTERSHIRE AND RUTLAND VETERAN LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION.
2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
2.1. To promote and encourage the game of golf amongst members.
3. AREA OF BENEFIT AND MEMBERSHIP
3.1. All members of golf clubs in Leicestershire and Rutland, having reached the age of 55 by 31st December are eligible for membership in the following year.
3.2. Any lady wishing to be eligible to play in competitions and matches must have been a member for at least 21 days prior to the date of any competition or match.
3.3. Subscriptions for membership are due on 1 January of each calendar year. If unpaid by that date membership is automatically terminated. The committee will agree subscription rates annually in September
3.4. Members who resign or become non-playing members of their golf clubs shall be eligible to continue as non-playing members on payment of the full subscription, or as social members of the Association at a reduced subscription.
3.5. Past Presidents are to be awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Association.
3.6. Ladies who move into the County and who are already members of a similar golfing association in another county or country may, on request and on payment of the subscription, receive immediate membership.
4.1. The Association will be managed by a Committee of up to fifteen members.
4.2. At any Committee Meeting a Quorum must consist of FIVE members.
4.3. The committee will be selected by the Committee, approved at the AGM and consist of the following:-
THE PRESIDENT To be elected to serve for two years.
THE TREASURER To be appointed to serve for up to four years.
THE SECRETARY To be appointed to serve for up to four years.
THE COMPETITION SECRETARY To be appointed to serve for up to four years.
1ST TEAM CAPTAIN To be elected to serve for one year.
2ND TEAM CAPTAIN To be elected to serve for one year.

ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVE Having no vote on the committee.
UP TO 5 COMMITTEE MEMBERS To be appointed to serve for two years.
EX OFFICIO The retiring President may serve as ex officio for one year.
4.4. The existing committee must ensure that as many clubs as possible are represented.
4.5. In the event of no person applying to fill the vacancy of any officer, the retiring officer by agreement may continue to serve on an annual basis.
4.6. Selection of Officers
Names of proposed President and Officers must be presented to the Committee for approval prior to being approached.
5.1. The Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held before the end of the calendar year, preferably during NOVEMBER. At this meeting reports will be presented by the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Competition Secretary, the First Team Captain, the Second Team Captain and the County Representative of the Midland Veteran Ladies’ Golf Association.
5.2. Committee Meetings will be held quarterly. The President/Chairman shall have the casting vote.
6.1. A proposal for the alteration of the rules laid out in any part of this constitution must be received by the Secretary before 30 September and must be circulated to members 14 days before the Annual General Meeting.
7.1. The end of the financial year shall be 30 September in any calendar year.
7.2. The accounts of the Association are to be audited annually and presented for adoption at the Annual General Meeting.
8.1. Honoraria are provided for the following officers - President, Secretary, Treasurer, Competition Secretary and the two Captains. The amounts shall be determined by the Committee and will be reviewed periodically.
8.2. Expenses: All stationery, postage and engraving will be paid for by the Association.
9. COMPETITIONS AND MATCHES
i. The organisation of the County Veteran Ladies’ Competitions will be the responsibility of the Competition Secretary.
ii. From 2001 there will be three Competitions each year in which members are able to compete. These are:-
The Championship – Medal Play.
The AM AM
The Better Ball Stableford.
iii. As far as possible the competitions will be held at different venues.
iv. A minimum of 20 entries in each division will constitute a competition.
v. No person will take more than one prize.
vi. Ties will be decided according to the England Golf Handbook
B Team Matches
Will be arranged by the Captains who will also be responsible for team selection.
The details including dates and venues of the following year’s matches and competitions should be supplied to the Secretary by 31 October to allow time for the fixture list to be finalised and printed.
10. THE PROPERTY OF THE ASSOCIATION
10.1. The following is a list of the property of the Association. The trophies are usually held by members for the year in which they won the competition.
a. Foursomes Salvers. (From 2006 Better Ball Trophies) Two solid silver salvers, ten inch diameter
b. Poynor Cup. Solid silver, nine inches high.
c. Scratch Salver. Solid silver salver, eight inch diameter, with three feet.
d. Over 70s Trophy. Silver-plated bon bon dish, five inch diameter.
e. Best Gross Bronze Division Trophy. Solid silver bon bon dish.
f. Kath Loake Trophies. Two solid silver salvers, eight inch diameter.
g. President’s Brooch silver
h. 1st Team Captain’s Brooch 9ct gold.
i. 2nd Team Captain’s silver bar Brooch.
j. The Eva Baxter Brooch – Silver (First Team Vice Captain)
k. Crystal Trophies – four crystal bowls with wooden stands.
l. Wooden gavel with stand.
m. The Association flag.
The trophies should be held in safekeeping by the winners and, by arrangement, be returned to the Competitions Secretary two weeks before the following year’s competition.
All trophies are formally presented again at the Annual General Meeting.
