2nd team v Warwickshire Print 2nd Team v Warwickshire Monday 6th June 2022 Having played The Leicestershire in a friendly match with Longcliffe early in the season, I am delighted to say just how well the course looked and played. The new green-keeper has done a tremendous amount of work and it really shows although our match struggled somewhat with the putting! Nothing new there I hear you say. Vice-Captain Jan did a sterling job again collecting the ‘dinner money’ and handing out the biscuits, and what a pleasure to have President Sue in attendance seeing everyone off on the 1st tee – thank you both. The handicaps for this match were set at 14-26 and although agreed with Warwickshire beforehand, I was shocked to be presented with their team sheet the day before with single handicap golfers playing, I expect to see many of them again when they play against Janice and the first team at Longcliffe on 25th July! We settled for a meal of Supreme of Salmon followed by Fruit Salad and Sorbet and not only did it look lovely, it was delicious, best meal yet! Thank you ladies for playing and I am delighted to say that under the circumstances it was a close match and again an improvement on last year’s result. Well done one and all! The score was: Leicestershire 3 ½ – Warwickshire 4 ½
